Another weird couple of weeks, another list of videos and other sources of reasons for hope. I have no structure for this because these circumstances do not allow for structure.
I just realized some may disagree with what I see as hopeful. And some of the things that give me the most hope are amongst his worst acts.
I see American political will as a great pendulum, pulled left or right by each administration. Trump has now pulled it so far right, failed at everything he promised, betrayed everyone he could, and is burning bridges so much faster than he can buy them that the correction could be truly transformative.
I have no emotional attachment to the National Mall, or the White House, and I have reasonable confidence that when this regime is overthrown these spaces will be restored. But the amount of abuse they are suffering now must be driving some of his supporters mad, and I’m glad for that.
My mom taught me to never take pleasure in someone’s else’s failing health. Hard disagree, mom. Any updates on his progressing dementia and possible strokes gives me joy.
The tide is turning.
